See Rock City
It's two hours out of town, but if you're hankering to see what the barns and birdhouses
have been talking about, it might be worth the trip, especially for those folks
driving through Chattanooga on their way home. Rock City has all the tourist-trap
trappings — actors in costume, photo ops, gift shops and dioramas,
but it's also got its fair share of natural beauty. Take a gentle hike through balanced
rocks and needle-eye passes, across swinging bridges and above waterfalls to reach
the Flag Court, where you can see seven states.
